Remember, remember! The Fifth of November! 

Today we remember Guy Fawkes Day; the day when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested for guarding explosives under the House of Lords. 

To celebrate Guy Fawkes Day I baked a lovely treat; surprise in a cake. Surprise in a cake has its own little explosions from the popping candy on top to the little surprise inside the cupcake. It is such a simple dessert yet it is fun and very creative just for Guy Fawkes Day. 

Ingredients: 

For the Cupcake:

-125g butter

-125g caster sugar

-2 eggs

-125g self raising flour

-5 drops of vanilla extract 

-3 tbsp milk

-Pack of M&Ms

For the Icing: 

-125g butter

-500g icing sugar

-Popping candy

-Food colouring

For the Cupcake: 

-Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line your cupcake tins with 15-18 cases.
-Cream the butter and sugar until smooth
-Add each egg one at a time and mix till combined well
-Sift the flour into the mixture and combine well
-Add the vanilla extract and milk then mix
-Put a bunch of M&Ms at the bottom of each cupcake case then spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases and put into the oven for 15-20 mins till the skewer comes out clean.
