#TB50s
Hey Guys,
Last week as you know I and a group of friends called Jam N Bakers organised an event for some children in the Philippines. I've told you who we are so now it is time to explain what we do. If you remember over 7 months ago we organised an event for Greenwich and Bexley Hospice which if I say so myself was an absolute success raising £548.13. This time we raised money for over 200 children in the Tarukan Village in the Philippines. This village is one of many that has been affected by the Mount Pinatubo eruption in 1991. Though it may of been a while ago this village is struggling to recover. It is a fairly small village we want to help the children. Why the children you may ask!? Well it's because children are the future. As corny as this may sound it is true. They are the people who will be looking after the place we live in when we can't. They are the ones who will make or break our planet. They are the ones who will look after us when we grow old.
Enough of all the drama, let me explain how we are going to do all of this. In 2018 Jam N Bakers are travelling over 6000 miles to the Philippines. We will be giving the children things that will help make day to day life a lil easier. We will be giving them notebooks, pens and other stationary for them to have a better education. We will give them clothes, slippers and things like bags. We want to be able to help the parents give a future to their children. Not only this but we will be giving them food, our engineering students will be building something special for them and our health care students will be on a medical mission.
In order to do all of this we organise events to raise money and awareness. This event the Throwback to the 50s was planned 4 months in advance with all decorations being made, food made by us and performances stuck together by our team. It was a difficult 4 months as we had to squeeze it between our A-Levels but the stress is over and we had a great time. The 2 months before the event was a struggle. 1 month of making decorations before we broke up for summer and the other month trying to squeeze rehearsals here there and everywhere. With so many people from the performance team on holiday or working it was hard to find time; but we did it.
We raised over £600, I will confirm all the numbers when I have received all the last bits and pieces and don't worry I will let you guys know. If you want to support us and help us out by donating to fund for our trip click here.
Lastly, I want to say a huge thank you. Thank you to all those who came to our event, those who couldn't quite make it but supported us and those who spread awareness to help us out. Thank you.
To the team, guys I love you so much! I appreciate all your help and support. Thank you for putting up with my nonsense and making this event such a great one. Hopefully we will have more success to come.
You can watch the bloopies of our rehearsals that I made as a thank you to performers and team behind the event here.
